MTN Ghana Reports GH₵5.5 Billion Profit as Data Usage Surges in 2025
MTN Ghana has recorded a remarkable financial performance for the first nine months of 2025, posting a profit after tax of GH₵5.5 billion, according to a recent company update. This marks a 45.9% year-on-year increase, underscoring the telecom giant’s dominant role in Ghana’s digital economy.
The company’s strong results were mainly powered by an increase in data and mobile money (MoMo) services. Data revenue alone grew by 47%, reflecting the country’s deepening dependence on digital communication, online learning, and streaming services.
MTN’s continued investment in network infrastructure — particularly the expansion of 4G coverage and ongoing 5G readiness projects — has also supported this growth. More Ghanaians now enjoy faster and more reliable internet connections, a key factor in the company’s rising profits.
Mobile Money remains another major growth engine for MTN Ghana. As more individuals and small businesses shift toward cashless transactions, MTN’s platform has become one of the most trusted financial tools in the country. Increased transaction volumes and user adoption continue to strengthen its market position in Ghana’s fast-evolving fintech sector.
MTN Ghana’s management noted that part of the company’s success stems from its strategic investment plan, which focuses on improving customer experience, expanding rural network access, and supporting national digital initiatives.
The telecom leader reiterated its commitment to supporting Ghana’s digital transformation agenda by enhancing infrastructure and bridging the connectivity gap in underserved regions.
Beyond business performance, MTN Ghana remains one of the largest taxpayers and private employers in the country. Its consistent profitability highlights both operational strength and the growing digital potential within Ghana’s economy.
Industry watchers believe the company’s focus on innovation, digital finance, and local partnerships positions it well for long-term sustainability despite inflation and regulatory challenges.
As digital lifestyles continue to evolve, MTN Ghana is expected to deepen its investments in areas such as AI-powered customer engagement, fiber internet expansion, and inclusive digital services. The company aims to play a central role in connecting millions more Ghanaians to the digital world — whether through faster data, smarter mobile services, or innovative fintech solutions.
